It’s probably a day that will live in infamy. It was the car accident heard around the world. It’s the day that Tiger Woods fell from his pedestal of fame and respectability. Everyone remembers what happened on the night in November 2009. It has almost been 2 years, and yet, Tiger is still suffering for his mistakes. It quite noticeable that his success as a golfer as dramatically dropped. He may be more notorious for his tabloid fame than his golfing achievements. In fact, he was recently fallen to the top 50 golfers; not number one or even number ten. He is now number 52! Never in my years would I have thought that a tiny accident and a major affair would lead to the most notorious athletic fall from grace.
Well, apparently, it’s still not over. His golfing abilities may be due to his past discretions or his previous injury that is hindering any improvement. No matter what the cause may be, Tiger is falling. Some are rooting for him to regain his momentum and others are praying for more Tiger suffering. This is obvious from Tiger’s recent participation in the Frys.com Open in northern California. An angry fan felt it was his right to show Tiger exactly how he felt, by throwing a hot dog at the golfer. Yes, a hot dog. Oh, the irony! Although this is a small act of resentment from one inebriated fan, it’s still obvious to Tiger and the rest of the sport world that he hasn’t regained everyone’s respect. Avid sports fans, such as me, want Tiger to succeed as a golfer. We want to watch the old Tiger, the one who will live forever as the best golfer. We now look past his personal life because all we want to watch is his extraordinary talent. It’s been 2 years people! Let’s watch him play golf, the sport that he has changed.
This “hot dog incident” may only be a hiccup in Tiger’s recent play. But, it must have some unnoticeable effect on him. We may not see it, but he must surely know that he isn’t fully forgiven by some.
