The Absurdity Behind the NBA Lockout

Prepare NBA fans for a  no season or at least a shortened season.  We saw it just a few months ago with the NFL during its lockout, and now it’s back with the NBA.  This time, however, it seems that the NBA season may actually take a hit from this ordeal.  It may have only been me, but during the NFL lockout, it was only a matter of time before a deal was made.  Everything I read, watched, or heard, focused on when the players and owners would come to decision.  But, for the NBA, it may be a matter of IF there will even be a season.

According to an ESPN news update, the NBA league has already cancelled all of pre-season, and if there is no deal by month, the first 2 weeks of the regular season will also be wiped out (see the link below for more information).  Already big named players such as Kobe Bryant  are being wooed by over-seas team in Turkey, China, and Russia.  Honestly, I don’t blame them.  So far it seems that a season may not be possible, and if there is, there will significant cut-backs in games with the way negotiations are heading.
No season or a shortened season will tremendously hurt the NBA’s profits for the year. Now, why can’t that be a severe enough reason to figure out a negotiation? To clarify, I have included an infographic explaining the detriment that may befall upon the NBA and the NFL with each respective lockout.

Potential Economic Fallout of the NBA and NFL Lockouts

With numbers and ratings like that, wouldn’t it seem that all man-power should be put into solving this problem?
