I could not be more jealous of Amy Trask. She has the job that I could only dream of ever having. With the death of Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis just last month, Amy Trask is now the CEO of the team. The whole team! Probably the best part of this new appointment is that she is a woman, undoubtedly making her the most influential woman in the National Football League.
As a woman myself trying to pursue a career in sports, more specifically professional football, this is truly a dream. I would give my left foot to be Amy Trask right now. Yes, this is a huge position, especially following in legendary Al Davis’ footsteps, but I truly believe that a woman is just as capable. Not any woman, but a woman that has the strength and endurance to keep up with a man’s sport. Her personality is described as tough, and an even better description is “Al Davis with ovaries.” Maybe it’s her legal background, but being a prodigy and right-hand woman of Al Davis could not prepare her more for this new job.
With graduation looming upon me, applying for jobs has become one of my main priorities outside of my academics. I have always known that a job in sports is highly competitive, especially among women. But with Amy Trask as a role model, I feel that anything is possible. Someday I will be a Amy Trask, you can count on it!
